About the AIGP - Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional Exam

The Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional credential is IAPP's certification for people who have to turn responsible AI principles into decisions, controls and evidence. It is aimed at privacy, legal, compliance, risk, security, product and data professionals who help an organisation decide which AI systems it should build or buy, what obligations apply, and how those systems will be monitored after release. The current Body of Knowledge is version 2.1, effective 2 February 2026. It covers four areas: the foundations of AI governance; the application of laws, standards and frameworks; governance of AI development; and governance of AI deployment and use. The blueprint now names agentic AI, general-purpose AI models, the EU AI Act, the South Korean AI Basic Law, NIST AI RMF and core ISO AI standards. Candidates revising from the previous blueprint need to account for those changes. The exam contains 100 multiple-choice questions and mixes direct knowledge checks with scenarios and multi-select items. The hard part is choosing the governance action that fits the organisation's role, the stage of the AI life cycle and the risk in front of it. A technically sensible answer can still be wrong when it skips an impact assessment, assigns accountability to the wrong party or treats deployment monitoring as a one-off check. This course maps every question to the current four-domain blueprint so you can separate gaps in legal and standards knowledge from gaps in development or deployment governance.

Exam Format & Details

The AIGP exam contains 100 multiple-choice questions, including scenario-based and multi-select items. Candidates have 2.75 hours (165 minutes) for the questions and a 15-minute break, making the full sitting three hours. The official passing mark is 300 on IAPP's scaled 100-500 range; IAPP states that 300 does not represent 60%. CertCrush therefore uses 70% as a practice-exam threshold, not as an IAPP passing percentage. The exam is delivered through Pearson VUE at test centres or through OnVUE remote proctoring. The exam costs US$649 for IAPP members and US$799 for non-members.

Why Practice Questions Matter

AIGP questions often place several reasonable actions side by side and ask for the one that fits the role, timing and risk. Practice turns that judgement into a repeatable method. It also trains you for multi-select items, where IAPP awards no partial credit and requires the exact number of responses requested. Domain-level results show whether you are losing marks on laws and frameworks, on development controls, or on deployment and monitoring, which makes the next study session specific instead of broad.
