GitHub Copilot (GH-300) is GitHub's intermediate certification for developers who use Copilot as part of their daily workflow. It's administered directly by GitHub through Pearson VUE, not through a general Microsoft Azure track, and it tests six areas: using Copilot responsibly, the IDE and CLI feature set, how Copilot handles your data, prompt engineering, developer productivity use cases, and privacy and content exclusion settings. The exam leans heavily on two domains. Copilot features carries 25 to 30 percent of the score and covers the IDE, Copilot CLI, Agent Mode, Copilot Edits, MCP, code review, Spaces, Spark, and organization-wide policy management, which is a wide surface for one domain. Responsible AI use carries another 15 to 20 percent and asks you to reason about the limitations of LLMs, not just recite a list of Copilot menu items. Candidates who fail this exam are usually strong Copilot users who never studied the architecture: how a prompt gets built from your open files and repository context, what happens during proxy filtering and post-processing, and where the public-code matching filter fits in. Day-to-day Copilot use doesn't teach you that pipeline, but the exam asks about it directly. The exam includes interactive question formats alongside standard multiple choice, so practicing with mixed formats matters as much as reviewing the content. Full practice questions and flashcards let you check whether you understand Copilot's internals and its guardrails, or you've only memorized where the settings live in VS Code.
