ITIL AI Governance (Version 5) is PeopleCert's standalone module for the people who have to make AI behave inside a real organisation. Your organisation is already using AI, and somebody has decided that making sure it behaves is your job. ITIL AI Governance (Version 5) is the PeopleCert module built for exactly that position. It is a standalone extension module with no prerequisites, so you can sit it whether or not you have ever held an ITIL certification, and it is aimed as much at risk, compliance and CIO-office staff as at service managers. The module arrived with ITIL Version 5, which launched on 29 January 2026 and replaced ITIL 4. That matters more than a version number usually does. The Service Value Chain is gone, replaced by the Digital Product and Service Lifecycle Model, and the Service Value System is now the ITIL Value System. Studying from ITIL 4 material will teach you vocabulary the exam no longer uses. Two proprietary models carry most of the syllabus. The ITIL AI Capability Model sorts what an AI system actually does into six capabilities, which is how you stop arguing about whether something counts as AI and start governing it. The ITIL AI Governance Improvement Model gives you four stages, Assess, Design, Implement and Maintain, for standing governance up and keeping it running. Around those sit the regulatory regimes you will be asked to reason about: the EU AI Act and its risk tiers, ISO/IEC 42001 as the certifiable standard, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, and IEEE 7014-2024 on emulated empathy. The exam is 40 scenario-based questions in 90 minutes, open book, at a 70% pass mark.

Why Practice Questions Matter

This exam is open book and scenario-based, which changes what practice is for. You are not being tested on whether you memorised the six Cs. You are being given a situation and asked which capability is in play, which obligation attaches, and who should decide. Practice questions build the reasoning that makes that fast, and they train the other half of the skill: knowing what you already know, so you do not waste minutes looking up something you could have answered. Working through a large bank also surfaces the traps, including ITIL 4 vocabulary that no longer applies and penalty tiers that are easy to mix up.
