About the PRINCE2 Foundation Exam

PRINCE2 is the project management method most widely used across UK government, European public sector and a large slice of private industry, and Foundation is the level that proves you actually understand how it fits together. The 7th edition, released in 2023, is a real change rather than a refresh: themes were renamed practices, a whole new people element was added, and sustainability and data management now run through the method. If you learned PRINCE2 before that, a good portion of what you know has moved. The Foundation exam is closed book, which is what makes it harder than people expect. You are not being asked to apply the method to a scenario, you are being asked whether you know it: which principle covers what, which practice owns which document, which process produces which output, and who does what. That is recall, and recall is built by repetition rather than by reading. Sixty percent of the exam sits in the practices, so a candidate who knows the seven principles cold and skims the practices tends to fail. The people content is new enough that most existing study material barely covers it, and at 14% it is worth more than the principles. These questions are written against the 7th edition syllabus, weighted to match the real exam, and every answer explains why the other options are wrong. That last part matters more than it sounds, because PRINCE2 distractors are usually real PRINCE2 terms used in the wrong place.

Why Practice Questions Matter

PRINCE2 Foundation is a vocabulary exam. The method defines seven principles, seven practices, seven processes, a set of management products and a project management team structure, and the exam tests whether you can tell them apart under time pressure. Reading the manual builds recognition; answering questions builds recall, and only recall survives a closed-book exam. Practice questions also expose the specific confusions the examiners target: business case versus benefits management approach, issue versus risk, stage versus phase, project board versus project manager. You want to make those mistakes here, not on exam day.
